Same Blade Number, Different Fit: Check the System Before You Buy

A blade number describes a cutting length within a range. It does not tell you whether the blade fits your clipper. Use this buying checklist before choosing your next assortment.

The practical answer

Match the blade system to your exact clipper before choosing a cutting length. The same number on two blades does not mean they share a fitting.

You find a 5F blade, recognise the number and add it to your basket. But there is one question to answer before the length: which fitting does your clipper use?

VUNRO’s A5 and D-Series blades are different systems. A familiar number on the front is not evidence that the attachment on the back will fit. The same applies when moving between a clipper and a smaller trimmer. Checking the system once makes every later purchase easier.

Make a reliable reference for your kit

Read the model from the tool itself. Use the full model name, not just the brand or the colour of the casing. If a household or salon has several tools, photograph each label separately.
Confirm the blade family. Look up that exact model in the VUNRO compatibility guide. A5, D-Series and VUNRO FlexFit Pro are separate choices. A blade that looks similar in a photograph is not a fit check.
Then choose the length. Read the millimetre measurement on the particular product page as well as its number. Do not carry a measurement from another range across from memory.
Check attachments independently. A guard comb has its own compatibility requirements. Confirm both the blade beneath it and the guard set, especially when changing between standard and wide equipment.

For the grooming salon

Keep a short equipment list beside your stock record: clipper model, blade family, regular lengths and compatible guards. Give each blade family its own storage section. If a colleague orders replacements, send that list instead of “get another 5F”. This also makes it easier to buy two working spares of your busiest length without accidentally ordering a mixture of systems.

For grooming at home

Take a photo of your clipper label and the blade you already use successfully. Ask your groomer which finish is appropriate for the coat and the jobs you can comfortably do yourself. Those are two different questions: the fitting must suit the machine, while the finish must suit the dog and your routine.
